GPA Calculator

The GPA Calculator finds your weighted grade point average on the standard 4.0 scale from your course letter grades and credit hours.

How GPA is calculated

Each letter grade is converted to grade points on a 4.0 scale, multiplied by the course's credit hours, summed, and divided by total credit hours:

GPA = Σ(Grade Points × Credit Hours) / Σ(Credit Hours)
Example: An A (4.0) in a 3-credit course, a B+ (3.3) in a 4-credit course, and an A- (3.7) in a 3-credit course gives a GPA of (4.0×3 + 3.3×4 + 3.7×3) / 10 = 3.63.

A note on scales

This calculator uses the standard unweighted 4.0 scale (A+/A = 4.0). Some schools use different scales or add extra weight for honors/AP courses — check with your institution for its exact scale. For a single course's grade, see the Grade Calculator.
